Strategically positioned within the longer second semester, Minimester occurs over four days in February to provide students an opportunity to pause their classroom learning and, like Fall Trips, engage in experiential learning outside of the classroom. The wide range of courses offered rotates and expands every several years so that over the span of a JHCS education, students experience a variety of course content, instructors, and learning environments and modalities. A valued piece of the whole education of a JHCS student, Minimester's mega-objectives are to
Enrich classroom-based curricula with intensive, hands-on, minds-on experiences that engage our students in new experiences in which they are center-stage as they learn a new skill(s).
Provide interdisciplinary curricular enrichment via community opportunities and access to local experts.
Recent offerings have included:
Sustainable Food
The Writer's Room
Rock Climbing
Glass Blowing
Scrubs: Surgery in Action
Radio Production
Interior Design
Climbing Systems and Movements
